RISHI RICH PROJECT HIT OZ

18 May, 2006

Rishi Rich, Juggy D, Jay Sean and Veronica hit the southern hemisphere for the first time when they embarked on a four-date tour of Australia and New Zealand in April.  The tour kicked off in Auckland, where the crew played to a 1,000 strong crowd at the ASB Stadium, before heading to Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. Rishi Rich says: “It was a great opportunity for us to play to a brand new audience and they received us really well. The gigs were sold out and the crowds were lively and knew all our songs, which was a good feeling for all of us.”  You can see what went down on the road in a photo gallery, plus watch exclusive behind-the-scenes video footage. ALL OUT FOR INDIA

1 May, 2006

Jay Sean is to feature in a two-part BBC documentary All Out For India to be screened on BBC1 on  June 7th & 8th at 9Pm. The documentary, which was filmed in March, follows Jay and a host of other celebrities including Chris Evans, Phil Tufnel, Dermot O’Leary and Nick Hancock as they take part in a cricket tour to India as part of the BBC’s annual Sport Relief fundraising project. Jay was deeply moved by the experience: “Going to India as part of this charity project was one of the most eye opening and mind opening experiences I've been through yet. It was a mixture of tears and laughter - and that’s not just a description of my cricketing performance!” “Some of the things that will stick with me are the faces of the little kids as they lit up on our arrival and how, for just a few hours, they were removed from the harsh reality in which they live. It made me realise just what a difference we can make. If last year we raised £16 million, this year I hope we raise even more so that those kids we visited can benefit from money which could change their lives forever and not just a day.” Jay admits his cricket skills are lacking: “The trip taught me something very unexpected Not that I’m crap at cricket because I knew that already! But I gained something a lot more valuable. To take pity on those who we may see as under-privelged is patronising but I saw passion and immense courage in these kids and thought that we could learn a thing or two from their strength and character.” Jay is looking forward to watching the documentary when it airs and says: “I was honoured to be a part of it. I'll be running the Sainsbury’s mile for Sport Relief and you guys should too!”
