Ashley started out life in the music industry at Telstar Records in 2000 within their much maligned post room. Within 3 months he had built it up to such a level that industry rival post rooms were casting envious glances at the operation and seeking the secret to the formula.
From there he was quickly promoted into the A&R department and formed part of the Urban A&R/Promotions team on Craig David and Mis-Teeq’s platinum selling albums, forming a close working relationship with Billy Grant & Rob Stuart. He also worked on Victoria Beckham and Vinny Jones studio album, but was absolutely not responsible for their lack of success.
In 2004 he left Telstar to join 2Point9 on a Bosman free transfer. Upon arrival at their plush Perivale offices he was handed a master to the debut album of Punjabi artist Juggy D and told it needed manufacturing, marketing and distributing. The album eventually charted within the top 70 of the UK national charts and was the beginning of a string of independent releases on the 2point9 label which resulted in him learning every facet of how a record is released from the recording process to the moment it is stolen on Limewire.
Since then his main roles have included day to day artist liaison, general marketing and production on the labels releases which include the Jay Sean album “My Own Way” that reached number 6 in the UK album charts, Asian club and radio promotions and remix commissions.
Ashley also has run the in house 2Point9 Live Agency for the past 5 years which has resulted in live bookings in over 50 countries worldwide for their roster of artists in venues such as Glastonbury, Wembley Arena, Webster Hall (New York), Clay Oven (Slough). The agency also encompasses Noize School Tours which has a database of over 14,000 UK schools that it is able to place artists in on promotional tours.
Having been with 2Point9 for 6 years Ashley has experienced every area of the music business within an independent record label/management company. He plays a key role in all aspects of artist management and record releases focusing on strategy, marketing & live bookings.
